When you are importing respondents to a SparkThink Survey email invitation collector, you may receive the following error message: "There was a problem adding a new collector" (see screenshot below). In this article, we describe the problem and how you can fix this issue.

This error message indicates that there was a problem importing the respondents to the email invitation using the spreadsheet provided. Here are some common reasons and resolutions:

Required column headers missing Check to ensure that the required column headers exist, i.e. First Name, Last Name, Email
Duplicate email addresses Find duplicate email addresses and remove them from the spreadsheet
Invalid email addresses Check for invalid email formats (e.g. missing "@" symbol, missing domain extension, invalid characters within email address, blank spaces before or after email address)
