SparkThink and its earlier versions have served Slalom for over 13 years, supporting thousands of surveys and workshops along the way. Users have consistently praised the platform for its friendly user experience and ease of use.

For many years, SparkThink filled a critical gap in our toolkit — giving Slalom and our clients a purpose-built solution for surveys and collaborative workshops. As the market has matured, competing products have evolved significantly and now meet those same needs, making it the right time for us to sunset our own platform in this space. We have made the decision to retire SparkThink on June 30, 2026, following a structured, three-phase transition.

This article outlines key dates, what changes during each phase, and the actions required to ensure you retain your data.

Overview

SparkThink will be gradually decommissioned to allow users sufficient time to review, export, and transition their data. During this period, platform capabilities will be reduced in stages until full shutdown.

Phases

Phase 1 — Full Access (Through April 30, 2026)

Users can continue to:

  • Create and share surveys and workshops
  • Capture survey and workshop responses

This phase serves as the official announcement period of the upcoming retirement.

⚠️ Important: After April 30, 2026:

  • Survey and workshop responses will no longer be recorded
  • Anyone accessing a survey link will see a notification indicating that SparkThink has been retired and should contact the survey owner

Phase 2 — Limited Access (May 1 – June 30, 2026)

The platform will move to read-only mode

Users will be able to:

  • View existing surveys and workshops
  • Export their data

Users will NOT be able to:

  • Create, edit, or share surveys or workshops
  • Capture survey and workshop responses

Phase 3 — Full Shutdown (July 01, 2026)

  • SparkThink will be fully decommissioned
  • The platform will no longer be accessible
  • Data will be placed in storage. Emergency access to the data can be provided—please reach out to the IT Support team for any requests.

Required Actions

To avoid losing important information, please complete the following by June 30, 2026:

1. Review Your Data

Identify any surveys, workshops, or results that need to be retained.

2. Export Your Information

Download all required data during the access period. After the shutdown, data will no longer be available.

3. Plan Your Transition

Ensure any ongoing work is moved to alternative tools before the platform becomes unavailable.
